Mudhaliyandan Thiruvamsam

Our Thirumaligai is from illustrious family lineage of MudhaliyANdAn (who is called yathirAja pAdhukA – the sandals of the lotus feet of emperumAnAr). From Mudhaliyandan to our first swami Koil Annan Swami, who has the Thiruvadi Sammandham of Sri Ramanujar. From Kandhadai Thozhappar, the Lineage spread across Tamil Nadu into to 6 or 7 families and in general, we have title/called as “Koil Kandhadai” Family. The Thiruvamsams/Thirumaligai were Mudhaliyandan, Thirumazhisaiyars, Kumara Venkatachariar, Solasimhapuram Dottayachariar, Koil Kandhadai Annan, Koil Kandhadai Appan, Thirumani, Koil Kandhadai Bhavanachariar.

Manavalamamunigal Connection

Later the son of Dhevaraja Thozhappar and the elder brother of Koil Kandhadai Appan, who was named Varadha Narayanan by his parents. Periya Perumal who called him as Koil Annan. He goes on to become one of the direct dearest disciples and ashta dig gajas (eight main personalities/disciples to propagate the sath sampradhayam) of Mamavala Mamunigal, got the Thiruvadi Sammandham of our Sri Manavalamamunigal. The Ashta diggajas were Ponnadikkal (Vanamamalai Onrana) Jeeyar, Koil Annan, Pathangi Paravasthu Pattarpiran Jeeyar, Thiruvenkata Jeeyar, Erumbiappa, Pradhivadhi Bhayankaram Annan, Appillai and Appullar.

As our ancestors stayed long time from Mudhaliyandan period, we got many kainkaryam and first theertha mariyadhai at Srirangam.
